Given its great age, this residence commands respect. Note the date of construction engraved on the pink sandstone keystone sealing the carriage entrance: 1865! Its character is still there, even if some concessions to modernity have had to be made.
You enter the "charru", a vast room that was once used to store the farmers' tools and the wagon. Today, part of it is used as a sauna.
Then you enter the living area through a glass door.

In the kitchen, the vast period fireplace is impressive, so wide that in the past it was used to smoke the equivalent of a whole pig. We have preserved the beautiful sandstone and granite stones, and placed a wood cooker. An authentic method of cooking and heating, you can use it to simmer anything that requires gentle, long cooking, such as tajines, dishes in sauce, and so on. When cooked this way, the taste is incomparable!
La integrated kitchen brings comfort and ease to the preparation of great meals to share with family and friends.

Rooms with a view
The 3 bedrooms are upstairs. The decor is simple, with an emphasis on natural materials and sobriety.
The bedding was chosen for its quality. The radiators are very recent and efficient (Atlantic brand), and the temperature setting is very simple.
- the "Grand Cerf" room This is a very spacious bedroom with a generous dressing area. The bed is just as spacious, so you can sleep comfortably: king-size bed, 2m by 2m.
- the "Chamois" room has a 160x190 Queen-size bed, a wardrobe for storing your personal belongings and a small desk.
- the "Renardeau" room The bed is large enough for a Vosges family (standard bed 140x190), but larger children are likely to overflow. You can store the contents of your suitcase in the original pine trunk.
La large bathroom could well accommodate 6 people! But you're free to choose a smaller group. It has a bath, two washbasins, a WC and a storage cupboard.
On the mezzanine, a library-lounge where you'll find regional and tourist books, novels, essays, leaflets and a few other items. games and books for children.

In the garden
You won't be short of space: No oppositeYour terrace provides the privacy you need to prepare a meal. barbecue without attracting freeloaders. Around the gîte
We are fortunate to live in a exceptional environmentThe park is surrounded by nature: the large meadow that surrounds us, the forest and the streams. If you're patient and discreet, you'll be able to spot many wild animals: birds, deer and roe deer, foxes, martens and many other more discreet species.
From numerous signposted footpaths are in the immediate vicinity of the gîte and provide access to remarkable sites These include the Bouchot waterfall, the Piquante Pierre site and Haut-du-tôt (a picturesque village, the highest in the Vosges).






By the way, why the name: la ferme aux avettes?
The term "farm" refers to the traditional building in the Vosges region, which for a long time housed farmers, their animals and fodder under one roof.
Avettes means "bees" in old French. The expression "mouches à miel" (honey flies) was also used.
And as one of our passions is beekeeping, the name came naturally...

We have a few beehives. Beekeeping is one of our passions and we share it by offering a jar of fir tree honey to each of our guests.



Our little henhouse is home to 5 hens. They are our official suppliers of organic eggs.
